Advantages Of A Home Based Business

Advantages of A Home Based Business

Here is his list of potential deductions for your business:
Your Business portfolio. Usually about $32.50 (US), this is the membership expense that actually starts your business. (Use your Account documents to document, or your canceled check.)
Your Value or Career Pack/Sampler Kit
. In order to understand and market Melaleuca’s unique products, you need to use them yourself. These packs provide you with the most popular products for you to try, and convert your house at the same time. (Melaleuca provides receipts for all purchases, keep for tax time.)
Your Monthly Purchases.
These purchases are “required” in order to get a check (no purchase, no check). Thus, this qualifies your purchase as a deduction. Since many of the benefits from using Melaleuca products come in the long-term, we must become a “product of our products”, and the daily/monthly usage allows us to do this. Also, if you give in-homes and one-on-ones you need your products to be fresh and attractive to show them to potential customers.  Many CPAs confuse Melaleuca with a Distributorship where you have to buy, inventory, and resell product. In those businesses, your purchases are not deductible. Melaleuca is a WHOLESALE business where 95% of the product goes directly to the end customer. This also permits Melaleuca to charge taxes on only the wholesale cost, rather than the catalog retail, as other home businesses do (Amway, MaryKay, Avon, etc.). (Document these purchases with the packing slip/invoice in each order. Don’t forget the sales tax and shipping is included in this deduction!)
Your Home Office.
Create one area in your house to do your Melaleuca Business from. It can be out of a closet, a desk in the corner of a room, a full room, or an office created out of some of your garage space, the only requirement is that it be used exclusively for business. If your desk is in the TV room, you can’t deduct the whole room, just the area that you actually work in. The percentage of the house used for business calculates the part of the following that you can deduct from your taxes: (Document with receipts.)
Rent (If you own your home with the bank, the interest, taxes, etc. are applied elsewhere)
Electrical Bill
Sewer Bill
Insurance (not deductible at all, unless you have a home business!
Cleaning Service (as long as they clean where you office is too!
Garbage service
Water Bill
House Repairs
Landscaping (if people come to your house on business)
Personal Training Expenses. (Document with receipts)
Seminars Attended
Books
Cassette / CD programs
B.E.S.T. series tapes/CDs
Training Conference calls
Advertising Expenses.
Like MelaGear? It all has the logo, and is thus an advertising expense.
Giving a gift? If Melaleuca product, or MelaGear, treat as Advertising.
Newspaper ads
County Fair / expo booth fees.
Flyers
Product Samples
Company Literature
Reproduction costs (photocopies, etc.)
Labor Expenses paid to your children for Business related work.
(Up to $4700 in 2003). Keep track of what is done, and how much paid, pay by check, canceled check is proof. NO SSN OR INCOME TAXES need to be paid on your children!
Emptying the Garbage
Mowing Lawn, other Landscaping
Cleaning your office.
Filing.
Computer work (Most kids are better at computers than we are!)
Envelope stuffing/postcard stamping, other mailing tasks.
Other business related items.
Business Travel.
Convention
Travel to pre-arranged presentations. Going to visit your sister? Put an ad in their local paper two-three weeks before, coordinate several appointments, and your trip is deductible (within some limits). Is your wife/husband going? Are they working with you in the business, and will they be at the appointments? Their trip is deductible too!
Air fare, train fare, and car mileage.
All “fees” related to travel - parking, tolls, security, etc.
Meals while on the trip (subject to limitations).
Entertainment expenses (subject to some rules and limitations)
Out of area training.
Office Expenses.
Paper clips, printer paper and toner, light bulbs, pens, pencils, highlighters.
White boards, easels, presentation flip charts
Furnishings (Chairs, desks, lamps, carpet, etc.)
Equipment (Computers, printers, fax machines, PDAs, phones, etc.)
Phone bill (If you only have one phone, only the long distance calls related to business, the IRS believes that one line is a ‘necessity’ and will not allow that as a deduction).
Special services on your phone bill (Three-way calling, call waiting, voice mail)
Second line used for business. (Document business usage by adding to your business card/stationery)
Cell Phone. (Document business usage by adding to your business card/stationery)
iglide.net account and e-mail. (Document business usage by adding to your business card/stationery). (Document fees by printing billing from iglide.net)
Data processing costs for business report. (Melaleuca documents for you on business report, and on year-end 1099 form)
Postage for business mailings.
In-Touch Reports costs.
Mentoring Report costs.
Business Meals. When you do a presentation at a restaurant/coffee shop, pick up your receipt! This is a deductible expense (50%)
Celebration Expenses.
Giving a party to celebrate? Make it a business event. Invite your business associates/prospects and deduct the entire cost! (Make sure you celebrate your business!) Document via receipts and invitation list, have attendees sign a “guest book” to document who attended.
In-home expenses
.
Baby Sitters
Product cases (for carrying display product in/out of house)
Demonstration supplies.
Assistants (read: your children, if old enough)
Food provided (100%).
Snacks/Tea/Coffee/Attain Shakes (100%)
Mileage to/from presentations, training events, Product Launches, etc. (36¢ per mile this year!) Document with mileage log. Do for three consecutive months, or three like periods, extrapolate totals to full year (multiply by four). IRS requires some sort of logical, written documentation of this. If your day planner does not have a good sheet for this, check out on the web for one, or make your own. It needs Date, purpose, start mileage, end mileage, total mileage on the trip, and total mileage for the month. You will also need the year’s start and ending mileage numbers off of your car’s odometer for the tax form.

Now for some “general” tax issues that you should be looking at, if not using:
401K. Usually set up by an employer, often with matching funds. If you have the option, you should be contributing. Start low on the percentage scale and move up with each raise (add 1% to your contribution). Your contribution is not taxed until you take it out, and if your company is matching a percentage of your contribution, you are almost guaranteed to come out ahead!
College Tuition Deduction.
With some income limitations, allows up to $3,000 deduction for college tuition in 2002 and 2003, $4,000 in 2004 and 2005. Expires at the end of 2005, and cannot be taken in the same year, for the same student as the Hope or Lifetime Learning Credits (below)
Hope Credit.
Designed to help pay for the first two years of college for yourself or your children. 100% of the first $1,000 and 50% of the next $1,000, for a total credit potential of $2,500! Student must be enrolled at least halftime, and in a program leading to a recognized credential or degree.
Lifetime Learning Credit.
Covers up to 20% of the first $5,000 spent on updating or learning a new job skill. Maximum credit per year of $1,000 per family (Husband/wife).
Car Lease.
Look at the lease/purchase decision VERY carefully! Usually the lease option is best for those that do not drive a lot, because the lease penalties for going over the anticipated mileage are very severe. (We have a friend who parked his leased car for a year to get the mileage back into the lease zone, and he still had to pay the lease and insurance on the car!)
Want to help your grandchildren who don’t live with you?
Set up a Coverdale Education Savings Account for them. You can contribute up to $2,000 per year, and the money can be used for college or qualified Kindergarten - 12th grade expenses also (read that “Private School”. Also check out your State and Federal “Section 529″ savings plans.
If you’re concerned about Capital Gains on the sale of your home. Don’t take the depreciation part of the Home Office Deduction. Up to $500,000 of the Captial Gains is fully tax sheltered, if you have lived in the house for at least 2 years.
Staying at a Friend’s house while on business?
Give them a gift in return, and deduct the amount as lodging for the trip. Cash or product are both OK (of course, I always give a gift of Melaleuca Products, especially if they are not yet customers, it breeds interest!) Limitation: Cannot exceed the cost of average hotel room in the area. (You can get the government’s idea of “average” for an area by searching for the US Government “per diem” rates on the Internet).

Taxes are a VERY complex issue, and no widespread communication like this would be complete without the “boiler plate” disclaimer:

All of the above information is advisory and educational. It MAY NOT apply to you and your circumstances in any given year. If you have any questions about your specific situation, consult a qualified Tax Professional.

Great Results From Products And A Company That Can Change Your Life

Melaleuca Oil (fever blisters)

Of course I love all of Melaleuca’s products that I have used so far, but the Melaleuca Oil is just awesome. I get fever blisters quite often. I get them after having colds, anytime I have a fever, and usually the first part of summer when I am out on the boat the first couple of times. I used to use either Carmex or Champho-Phenic. Both products will eventually dry them up after a week or so but does nothing to keep them from spreading across my whole lip. Since I started with Melaleuca in March I have started to get a fever blister or 2 separate occasions and as soon as I noticed the first little blister I immediately began dabbing Melaleuca Oil on it ever couple of hours and the blister never developed. Best of all it was gone completely within about 48 hours! When you get them as bad as I do this is such a relief!

Sol-u-Mel (pink nail polish out of carpet)

I am sure you will get a tonne of sol-u-mel stories but I still wanted to share mine. As you know it is such a great product. My daughter spilt bright pink nail polish on our beige carpet. I got out my sol-u-mel full strength and with a bit of work it came right out. Wow! To say I was thrilled was an understatement. Gotta love melaleuca!!

Vitality for Life Pak  (migraines)

My latest product experience is in regards to the Vitality Pack vitamins. I just enrolled in the middle of April. My husband and I both started taking the vitamins. To give you a little background on my husband, Peter; he is 27 yrs old and he has suffered from Migraines since he was 5yrs old. They are hereditary in his family, his grandmother also suffered from them for most of her adult life from the age of 25 until she was 65. They have done catscans, MRI’s, EKG’s, the whole works he has tried pretty much every drug on the market to help prevent along with take the pain away once they begin, this includes Immatrex (both pills and nasal sprays), Migrainal, Nortriptolean, anti-depression pills, anti-seizure pills, as you can see the list goes on and on. He usually gets 1-5 migraines a week, at least one bad one that includes vomiting, can’t have any light or noise anywhere around him, which is sometimes difficult with a 1 & 3 yr old. Anyways since taking the awesome miracle vitamin Peter has been able to go off of all 3 medications he has been taking for migraines and has had no migraines in a month. That is AWESOME for him as well as our family. He said he is actually kind of scared and when I asked him why he replied because he never wants to run out. I obviously told him not a problem. Anyways the Vitality Pack vitamins are our miracle vitamins and that alone will make us a customer for life, let alone give is that much more motivation to help build my business…

It is actually a no brainer…the company is called Melaleuca (comparable to Costco or Sam’s except they don’t sell food). Also look at www.saferforyourhome.com this site discusses the products and the company. The jist is this, you sign up for a membership just like you have at Costco or Sam’s  $29 to join for the year then $12 thereafter per year - I can afford that. You earn a percentage off of their purchases (7%-20%).There isn’t any selling involved, just tell your friends or family members about the company and let them determine if they want to become members. If You Don’t Have A Home-Based Business, Open One Today !

If You Don’t Have A Home-Based Business, Start One Today!   http://www.kjwealthplan.com

The idea that significant tax deductions belong only to the rich is a myth!

This company has everything you need to be very successful in a home business.  You really need to think about opening a home based business now is the best time to do it.  You have nothing to lose and a lot to gain.

This is the point in the evening when you need to stop and breathe deeply. Before you decide to get caught up in the enthusiasm, which will be contagious, and buy in immediately, take this advice: Let the enthusiasm cool off. Then begin the process of deciding which company to join by finding the answers to the following 10 questions:

How stable is the company? Two ways to judge a company’s stability are: first, get a credit report from Dunn and Bradstreet. Second, find out how long the company has been using network marketing. Most companies never survive two years. Therefore, at least two years in the business is a good yardstick in judging a company’s stability.

Does the company stand behind the promises it makes about its products? This question is important to ask product companies. Call the company and ask these questions:
Does the company validate their products’ claims, e.g., does a health food product have clinical trials done by independent laboratories?
What is the company’s refund policy if the customer is not satisfied? How quickly do they refund the money?
What is the company’s buy-back policy on inventory purchased by distributors? Most companies promise to buy back inventory not more than a year old. But sometimes this policy is illusory because of the complex administrative hoops the distributor must jump through and because there is no limit on when the refundable money must be paid back to the distributor.
Finally, buy the product and try it. Do you like it?

Does the company want you primarily to (1) sell products/services, (2) recruit people, or (3) both? Most companies want you to recruit people to distribute who in turn will recruit people to distribute who in turn will recruit people to distribute. But if the company is only recruiting people and no one is selling the product/service, you may want to look carefully at the company. Will the distributors use enough product to keep the company afloat?

Further, you may just want to market a product and not manage a whole sales force of downline (the people you get to sign up under you) distributors. If so, find a company that will let you do that. Your commission should be enough to let you make money retailing the product or service without having any downline. This means that the commission paid on retailing should be about the same as the commission paid on recruiting new distributors. Nevertheless, it’s useful to remember that most of those who earn top money in network marketing are the people who are able to get others to overcome the stigma of network marketing - to recruit, train, and finally support people (called their “downline”) who are able to get others to recruit, train & support people, etc., etc.

Will the products sell? Before you buy too much inventory - a good guideline is don’t buy more than you can sell or use in a month - do some comparative shopping to find out answers to these questions:

Is the price of the products reasonable? Can customers find just as good a product on the market for less? Usually network marketing companies offer products which are only available through them and which are claimed to be (and may be) better than those offered elsewhere.
If the products are not unique, are they priced competitively?
Are the products so desirable that people will continue using them and recommending them even if they stop being distributors? This is an important question, since most companies have a high attrition rate among distributors.
Will the products sell even if not marketed through network marketing.

This company has the reputation and stability that you need.  We offer the training and team work you need to succeed in a home business whether it be full time or part time.  You owe it to yourself to change the way you life.  Visit my site today and learn more.

Too positive to be doubtful, too optimistic to be fearful, and too determined to be defeated

You indicated that you wanted to improve your financial situation, yet it doesn’t seem you were serious.  Am I wrong?

How will your life be remembered ? Will your story be lost among the millions who were afraid to take a chance even though they had a successful and proven Mentor who was willing to help them? There’s obviously nothing to gain by “following the crowd” or doing what you’ve always done. You may as well put yourself out to pasture to never realize your life ambitions.

Each of us has an amazing opportunity to live LARGE if we are willing to work for it. It takes leaving the comfort of our familiar meadows where we’ve failed to find financial success and walking FORWARD!

It won’t get any easier than it is now with our DOLLAR MEMBERSHIP, but that chance will be ending in a few days. Our team is earning tens of thousands of dollars every month from home, and we’re ready to help you.  All you need to bring to the table is a sense of DESIRE and your willingness to invest some EFFORT with us.

If you’re willing to do that, let’s get you on one of our Online Presentations this weekend and show you how what we have HAS something powerful to offer you!  Join Us You Will Be So Glad You Did..

Your Future Is Not A Matter Of Chance

freeinformation.png

You have to make your own opportunities.  Your future is not a matter of chance.  It’s a matter of your choice.  It’s not something you wait for.  It’s something you must actively pursue.

Don’t wait for extraordinary opportunities.  Seize common occasions and make them great.  Opportunity can come disguised in the form of misfortune, or temporary defeat.

Start today, right where you are.  Distant fields will always appear greener.  Yet, golden opportunities areall around you.

You can live a great dream if you pursue it.

REALLY think about this one guys….

MAKE this weekend of DOLLAR MEMBERSHIPS count!!  Let’s show them how to turn part of their BlackFriday shopping for the holidays into 2010 Business TAX WRITE OFFS….
